Give it about 5 more weeks and it will all be over. The price we pay to live in such a great city!

Like a lot of people I was never much afflicted with Cedar Fever during 22 years in Austin. There were times when I'd notice a pattern of becoming increasingly congested late in the day/evening that seemed to coincide with the native juniper pollination season, but I can't definitely attribute my rather mild symptoms to that. Austin does have plenty of pollen and molds circulating in the air more often than not. Could be difficult for people who are very allergy-prone, but many people are affected only minimally, if at all.

I think the rate is about 30% of people in Austin have "cedar fever". However, if you're among the 30%, winter time in Austin can be very difficult.

Once you get here, go to Whole Foods or Sprouts and buy LOCALLY grown honey. Take a teaspoon a day (by itself or in tea, on toast-whatever you like). It works wonders for my daughter who usually has horrible allergies this time of year.

Like they say you either suffer or you don't. There doesn't seem to be much in between.

I have TERRIBLE allergies and yet do not suffer from cedar fever. I expected it would develop but 15-some years later, nothing.

But I seem to be allergic to everything else. So I don't complain.
