Can anyone recommend an honest and trustworthy company that will do 26 windows? I've gotten 3 bids from $20,000 to $12,000. I'm looking for any and all feedback, thanks!

Don't have a local source BUT, back in Atlanta, I replaced the sashes in 9 of our windows using the Jeld-Wen 'Zap-Pak'(IIRC). This kit includes the jamb liner for the sides and new sashes of your design...we went with low-e glass, argon gas, baked on exterior finish, wood trim interior. At the time, Lowe's wanted $180 per window to install(avg. cost for each sash was $200...different sizes...different costs). I'm somewhat handy and I got the removal/install time down to 20 minutes per. Bottom line...two grand for nine windows with my install. Saved roughly half vs having a 'pro' do it. You can order through the BORG, if they still handle Jeld-Wen. It was the best replacement system available about three years ago, IMO. You just need a handy person...replace one or two at a time...no need to pull out 26 windows when it's 30 degrees outside!

Now, then(where IS Ross Perot any way?)...IF you need to replace the entire window, I'll put my hand down and let someone else answer!

BTW, it made a tremendous difference in our 50 year old house...tighter, quieter, easier to clean, more energy efficient--especially regarding heat gain from the sun. Good luck!

Default Windows

Call Rick with Tom's glass 748-8354. They're able to handle most ( low E, tempered, rain glass, etc.) Nice, quick turn-around. Good Luck and tell 'em "PoolGuy" sent you. This for Glazier ( replacement windows), not frame work.

I used Wonderful Windows of Houston and was very pleased with them. If I recall correctly they do go out to Austin. Hope this helps.

I detailed my experience replacing my windows here (mine is the last post in the thread):

For what it's worth, it's been a few years now since my replacement and I'm still happy.
