I've always found Houstonians to be very friendly. Perhaps a bit more business-like and less laid back, but that's only because it's a faster paced city. I've never felt out of place starting a casual conversation with a stranger there. I would say they are just as friendly as any other Texans.

Austin doesn't have a pine forest in the city, as Houston does. I was just trying to point out an asset of Houston's landscape.

Anyway, I think the quality of this thread is going downhill (aside from the posters who have shared their honest opinions of living in both places - thanks.) Not that the thread quality started out that great with the opening subject....

Yeah, Austins pines are actually in Bastrop, which some people in Austin don't consider part of Austin. At least from what I gather through the CD threads. But, trainwrecked is right, different strokes for different folks. But I still disagree. Think people in Houston are very friendly and that's been my personal experience.

Agreed. Houston and Austin are both filled with friendly people. But I had to point out the fact that as Houston has a nearby Ocean, Austin has nearby pines .
