I live in Hutto, so I'm only saying things IMO. Safe to raise a family. Lots of families with small children around. I wouldn't say boring, but you're only a stone's throw away from downtown Austin, so no big deal. Housing is more inexpensive on the East side of 35 than on the West side, but not cheap as in "ghetto". Very culturally diverse. Dell is here. There is hardly a distinction as to where Austin ends and Round Rock begins. That's how close you are. Your girlfriend won't have a problem finding a job, but I'm not sure about stylists. You'd probably do better finding work closer in to Austin proper. There aren't really any bad neighborhoods, But Star Ranch on this side/maybe TeraVista. Someone else would have to tell you about West RR Subdivisions, neighborhoods. There are more resturaunts than clubs. Lots of outdoor activities. If you want nightlife, you have to go into Austin. There are some things to do here at night, but it's more small scale, local bar stuff.

OOPS! Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I meant they are good neighborhoods. Sorry about that!
