Planning on a long weekend in Austin soon. I would like to know best hip restaurants that serve good cuisine w/o being over the top pricey, also best shopping for women's apparel (good quality, style and price), best Sunday brunch not too far from downtown (prefer to go where the locals go), best place to shop for good inexpensive furniture, best neigborhoods to check out for decent homes in the 150-175K range. Any interesting events that might be going on or activities that might be fun. Is taking the train worth the ride? Best hiking trail in downtown area. Plan on doing First Thursday (any special things I might not want to miss at First Thursday). Of course I will stop by Whole Food Market and Whole Earth. Any great ideas will be appreciated. Is Justin's on the East Side really that special? I enjoy home tours, art happenings, restaurants, great coffee, hiking, unique movie houses. Of course I probably won't have time to do everything but I will try to get as many of the good things in as possible.
Thanks in advance for all your great ideas!

I just put a bunch of recommendations on this thread, and there are other good ones in it as well:

For brunch? Stubbs, maybe Maria's Taco Express (Hippie Church).

I can't really help with Justin's or women's apparel, though.

For $150-175K neighborhoods, seems like you'd be looking at a suburb. Do you have a location preference, like a job or place you'll need to be near? That would help.

Best hip restaurants huh? Well, I am not hip, but I think the South Congress Cafe serves terrific food without being that expensive. It's not "cheap eats" my any means, but you can get a dinner with duck for under $20 and in my book, that's a big deal. South Congress Cafe - home
