As for population growth, I genuinely think that it'll be a good thing losing some population here. It forces you to think differently about how you structure the economy rather than just relying on 400000 people a year to take up low wage jobs so that the green line can go up.

Plus, rent here is now the cheapest in the nation. Means I can finally move out on my own. It wouldn't hurt to think a bit positively after 2 years of constant negative news shoved down our throats. We're finally starting to transition out of this constant state of fear and dread.
Very pleased for you that the lockdown has more or less lifted. Got a text today from my Melbourne friend and she is very happy to be seeing her family and to be going out to a restaurant.

Things remain positive here in Sydney and people are surprised how well everything seems to be going. Except that the traffic is back with a vengeance. I spent the morning with some friends in a cafe overlooking the water, where many people were enjoying a swim. Everyone is coping with the QR showing the proof of vaccination. The Covid numbers are steady, 334 today, with the spread more in the country now and that will probably be easier to manage.

Schools are sending kids home if they seem to have colds and coughs. So ten year old grandkid and his mates were trying to guess how many times they would need to cough if they want to get out of class.

Prospects of the other states opening are pleasing. Except WA, but nobody cares as it does not feel part of the country any more.

And when vaxx efficiency deminish in validity due to time period?
UK already wondering if further lock downs will be needed there with increasing numbers.

Fully agree on population growth. Purely in the interests of financial sector, housing industry and business wanting to import more slaves. (suppress wage growth)

I thought the UK had already decided that further lockdowns wouldn't be needed? But when have politicians ever been consistent especially in the past 2 years. Would be awful if they were implemented as people would basically feel that no progress has been made, being stuck in an infinite loop of winter lockdowns and summer freedoms.

The UK faces another lockdown if they don't slow the spread and hospitalizations. Something like 90% of their adults have antibodies from either vaccination or infection.
