And what about schools?
Melbourne is generally a safe city to live in but definitely avoid the inner-west and outer southern/southwestern suburbs such as Footscray, Dandenong and Frankston. It's not that easy to find a job now that thousands of people are losing their jobs due to factories downsizing/closing down. I think you would be better off trying Sydney or Brisbane as there is plenty of building projects going on and the wages are higher too.
Schools are of the same standards all over the Boomerang Coast.

A good area for an electrician would be Newcastle/Hunter Valley region. Plenty of work around due to mining in the upper hunter region and still within a 2 hour drive to Sydney. Sydney wages but housing is about 2/3 the price.
