In terms of lifestyle, lower cost of living, low crime, climate, things to do, prospects etc.

My aunt lives in Perth and speaks very highly of the city however she did mention one of her gripes was the cost of real estate. It is alot cheaper than here though.

I quite like the look of Brisbane too, seems cheaper and you have awesome beaches/lifestyle.

Well of course I'll say Melbourne.

**shrug** Other people complain about the weather here but I prefer it and aside from that Melbourne's got everything. Housing is really expensive here though.

Perth is gorgeous and I'd live there in a heartbeat but it's too hot for me.

I love Sydney to visit but not to live.

Brissy is great but again, for me too hot.

I love Hobart but that's too cold.

Can't help you with Darwin or Adelaide. I've not been to Adelaide since I was tiny and I've never been to Darwin.

If beach lifestyle is what you're looking for I'd say Brisbane, The Gold Coast or Perth.

Im the kinda person that loves a hot climate for barbecuing, having parties out in the yard by the pool thats my kinda life. I've been invited over to visit my family in Perth though isn't that area the most expensive to live 2nd to Sydney? I've heard Brisbane was alot cheaper?

I found Brisbane humid, you will be barbequing and sweating. Adelaide is a dry mediterranean climate so you won't be sweating as much. Easy to navigate, nice beaches (not rough surf as compared to the east coast cities). Lots of old british colonial style buildings. Friendly relaxed lifestyle. Plenty of festivals in the summer. Surrounded by hills and wine regions. Winters can be chilly, but not as chilly as Melbourne. And definitely warm compared to a Scottish winter. I don't recall them even getting a frost in the city. As for real estate it is one of the cheaper capital cities. I'd go for Melbourne or Adelaide.

Actually Perth surpassed Sydney in expense but with the downturn in mining.. that may change.

I think Darwin is so underrated, it looks beautiful, small yet full of character and the sea is tropical looking. Is it a popular city to visit/expensive?

I thought Adelaide had summers in the 70s? Which is kinda what we get here in summer.

Brisbane itself doesn't have nice beaches, you'll have to drive north or south for half an hour to an hour and you'll get some really nice beaches.

the problem with Darwin is that it's so small and hence, it'll have nothing to do. Also, moving from the UK, you'll probably struggle with its heat. On the flip side, housing will be cheap there.

I wouldn't live in a city but i'd like to be at least 1 hour away from one. Heat doesn't bother me i've travelled quite a bit and i'm half Italian i love the heat

Thanks for your info.

Do you know which Aussie cities you can get more bang for you buck?

Eeek are most beaches safe in the Adelaide, Perth and Brisbane area? I forgot about sharks and jellies. I am scared of them.

Brisbane area is tropical climate with alot of rain? Perth and Adelaide are about the same then very dry climates with mild winters?
