With Busch's attitude and Finch being fire-happy, I don't see this relationship lasting through half the season. That is unless Busch brings a lot of $$$.

I don't know how much, if any, money he's bringing but with his past champions provisional he's guaranteed to get into the field. That's a selling point to any potential sponsors.

Maybe Busch hopes to duplicate the Stewart/Haas setup.

If he can move up in the standings from 30th to 29th I guess it will be considered successful.

Bush is a better driver than last years driver but the equipment and team are not as good as he could have driven for the #43 which finished 15th in points only a few points behind where Bush finished in the "best" equipment.
Since both teams are underfunded by today's standards Bush and whoever gets the 43 would be extremely lucky to get more than a couple of top five finishes if any.

James Finch:

"I told Kurt, 'I won't fire you, and you won't quit. We'll do whatever it takes, even roll in the mud if we have to to win. I've worked construction all my life just so I could race and have a good time. I've worked with iron workers, I worked with construction workers, so working with a driver is not going to be a problem. As I said earlier, all we want to do is win" - Fox Sports

I would love to see Landon Cassil take over the #43 and finish higher than Kurt Busch in the standings! It wont happen, but boy would that be a great story if it did!

More from Finch

"He lost a job and he's lost several million dollars, and so I think that's been a wake up call. I told him, I said Kurt it's about winning racing. you need to watch your temper and your mouth," Finch said. "I hired him for his foot and not his mouth. hopefully we can get him controlled. He's got a long way to come. He's got to show people he's going to be a driver. And show NASCAR that he's a driver, and he's going to do what's expected as a driver."

I would not pick Kurt for the Cup Championship with Pheonix Racing, but I would not assume he won't be competitive either. He is a good driver when he isn't busy throwing his teammates under the bus, and PR is using Hendrick engines and chassis. They could make this work into being respectable.
