Kenseth, team penalized after Kansas win

This penalty is very harsh! 50 diver and owners points, Jason Ratcliff fined $200,000 and suspended for 6 weeks, Joe Gibbs suspended as owner and won't receive owners point for 6 weeks, and Toyota docked 5 manufacturer points.

Of course they are appealing and I expect some of this to be reduced.

I have no doubt the fines and points deduction will be overturned for Gibbs and Penske and the Hamlin fine, by the arbritrator just like they were last year for Hendrick.

I'm detecting a pattern here.

This is a penalty that makes sense as far as post race inspections are concerned. However, one connecting rod out of 8? The only advantage I could see from this is throwing the crank out of balance and detonating the engine.

There is no doubt that having one connecting rod three grams lighter than the other seven is a distinct advantage I always knew TRD were cheaters.

Man I hope this penalty is over turned, seriously what are teams supposed to do tear down every engine before they put it in the car? This is one of reasons why we only have 43 45 cars running, fewer fans watching and going to races. why would I want to start a team if I know NASCAR can fine me out of existence for something I have absolutely no control over. Gibbs did not build this engine they had nothing to do with it. Nascar has gone off the deep end and must stop this nonsense before it's to late because as a fan I'm getting tired of it and very close to not watching anymore.

3 grams = 0.10582 ounces - about the weight of 2 cotton balls.

I'd say the penalties were just a bit severe.

Yup. Not enough to give an advantage or throw the engine so far out of balance that it grenades. Simply sounds like someone at TRD f'd up and they all had a really bad day yesterday.
