It's finally happening!! Fans will now be able to identify F1 cars more easily.
I remember reading about this last year – it was a real struggle to make it happen.
For years people attending the races complained that they couldn't read car numbers, if they could see them at all, so they often couldn't figure which car was which and who the driver was.
Of course, they were supposed to memorize the car colors and helmet designs. Most of them knew the red cars were Ferraris and some knew the silver ones were Mercedes, but that was about it.
Liberty Media is finding that it is really difficult to make F1 fan friendly.
I think they are in denial. They are working like a top team when they haven't been one for four years. They thought their problem in 2014 was that they weren't a "works team", so they brought Honda to become one... I think they had and still have other problems bigger than their engine supplier.
I think Mercedes was conservative because they didn't want two roosters in one cage. Lewis is now the undisputed #1 driver in the team. Bottas won't be anywhere near him, but he'll be reliable to collect points towards the constructors championship.
Alonso must be deflated for sure... they sold him on a 3 year incremental approach to a third championship, and this could be the wors year of the three. I feel for him.
I feel for him too and I can't help but like the guy, but he is a pretty crappy employee and teammate. Can't get along with anyone and a rule bender/breaker regardless of pay or team status. At least partially his fault, perhaps?
