One day while backing out of my driveway I hit my garbage can and now my side mirror is hanging off. I was told that I could us an adhesive that is generally used with cement, is this true?

Got any pics? If this is the entire assembly that was knocked off, you're going to have to remove it and figure out how it was originally attached before attempting any repairs - if it's even repairable at all.

Kind of tough to tell you exact repairs without more information about what's left of the mirror to work with.

That said, if you don't care much about how it looks, JB Weld can cement almost anything to anything.

JB Weld might work a long while. That isn't the right way but it might work. The right way is to pull the door panel and remove what ever is left, hammer out any pull dents and replace the unit if need be with what ever held it in the first place, taking care to dop anit rust coatings be they paint or other depending on what is there on the who know what vehical.

I would look in my chrystal ball but it is out getting cleaned.
