Depends on the car, some are 60k, some 90k, some over 100k. Your owners manual will tell you or you can google it.

Depends entirely on the car. Some don't even have them.

You should check a owners or shop manual. If it were a old 85 volvo you would be over due. They timed it as 45,000 miles. They take about 1 hour, and the belt is under 20 bucks.

Who knows, if you tell us what year make and model are ID which engine, someone might walk you through. if it's a Dodge Colt forget about it, too much trouble better off junked.

Engines can be broken down into 2 types, interference and non-interference. If your timing belt breaks on an interference type engine........most likely you engine will need to be replaced.....major head work at least. Best to error on the safe side.

That's spot on. If i recall it was last fall when I went to start my cage. One 85 Volvo turbo wagon. Thankfully is isn't a crash engine. Seems a mouse built a nest over summer when the car sat idle. I spun the start motor over and in a beat it changed the sound to a basic no compression sound. Popped the dist cap, had my wife spin the engine for me, and the rotor sat still Belt time. Off to Napa on the bike and fixed in about 1.5 hours ridin n' all .... not too bad.

nasty stinkin mouse nest though.
