Sadly, I've been caught going over 100 mph twice.

The first time was in rural Saskatchewan (Canada) and I was clocked by an oncoming officer at 185 kph/115 mph. I got a ticket for $500 Canadian which was about $350 US at the time. (2003?) The officers were very nice and made a suggestive joke about what my girlfriend, who was in the car, may have been doing to get me to go that fast.

The second time was in rural Wisconsin on Christmas Day a couple years later. I was paced by an undercover at 118 mph. In retrospect, I should have known that the late model Chevrolet lagging behind me wasn't just someone using me as a blocker for cops so they could safely speed. The undercover radioed ahead to a cop who was waiting for me ahead with a radar and got me at 95 mph. I saw the stationary car and had a little time to slow down before they clocked me. Luckily, they gave me a ticket for 95 instead of 118. I got the fine reduced to around $200-$300 by going to "court" via conference call.

In other words, I was really lucky in both cases.

Driving I-5 in CA.

Speed limit was 65 -- I was doing 105.

Ticket was $1,000, but since I drove up to see the judge instead of just mailing in a check, I got it down to $500. No jail time.

My first action was to go to a AAA office and talk to them, since they have people who specialize in this sort of thing -- well, at least they did back in 1991 when I got the ticket.

120 in a 25. Yes not a typo lol.

3 days before christmas, I was in the navy and me and a buddy took our motorcycles to go to the store. One thing led to another and we ended up racing through a neighborhood with a speed zone of 25. It was cold and no one was outside.

We pulled into the gas station and took our helmets off. About 10 seconds later 2 cop cars come screeching into the parking lot and we were ticketed.

I lost my license for 90 days for that one. Would have been worse had I not been active duty in the Navy.

Speeding can get costly if caught particularly if the cop thinks you were racing.
heres a breakdown for Ontario=
0 – 15 km/hr over = 0 points (minor infraction)
16 – 29km/hr over = 3 points (minor infraction)
30 – 49 km/hr over = 4 points (major infraction)
50+ km/hr over = 6 points + 30 day license
50+km/hr over (Stunt Driving/Speed Racing) = 6 points + immediate 7 day license suspension and car impoundment + up to 2 year additional licence suspension upon conviction.
And costs=

Wow I wish I would have remembered that when I got my ticket a few months ago. I could have been reimbursed for part of my legal fees. Seems like AAA still does this.
