Almost any vehicle sold in the US will accommodate three adults and their luggage easily. The LaCrosse is a rather large car and is the very typical near luxury American car.
If you rent a car, they usually give representative models but do not guarantee a specific model.
You are reasonably likely to get a larger car than you requested, (at no additional charge) especially if you request a small one.
When you arrive, know what you want with respect to collision damage waiver, prepaid/ not prepaid gas, and accessories. If you seem to be unfamiliar with the process they will spend a long time trying to upsell you.
The LaCrosse is large? I must be getting old, because to me a large car would be something like a Cadillac DTS or BMW 7 series.
Back to the LaCrosse: it looks like it would be good for three people and their luggage, but IMO - and I'm really not trying to sound like a male chauvinist pig here - that only applies to three guys. Because in my personal experience, guys usually bring much less luggage than women.
BTW Buick has been re-creating itself the last three years or so, so if anyone says that brand is for "old people", tell them to check out reviews of the latest Buicks (I grew with them and admit I'm kind of biased towards them!).
The Charger is taller, wider and longer then the LaCrosse and rides on a 10" longer wheelbase, giving it more rear seat room. On the luggage front, the LaCrosse's trunk is abysmally small for a sedan in that class as it only has 10.8 cubic feet of volume. The Charger by comparison has roughly 50% more trunk space at 15.4 cubic feet.
If space is your ultimate goal, then the Charger is the best choice.

That's what I thought. Edmunds car review highlighted the poor size of the trunk in the LaCrosse.
I know that the Towncar is a bit old fashioned but it's a dying breed and I might go for it for that reason, though I realise the other two are a more modern ride.
Thanks for the replies from you all.
