I think it looks pretty f'ing cool.

As someone else here said, I don't like the "murdered out" look on cars - i.e., black paint, maximum-tinted windows, smoked/tinted tails, signals, and sometimes headlights (illegal here in CA). You see that a lot here in Beverly Hills, usually rich kids who have ridiculous hair, stupid glasses, and generally lack any of the class that money's supposed to impart to them.

I have seen some totally blacked-out cars that looked great, don't get me wrong. I'm more talking about stuff like this:

I'm particularly sick of matte vinyl wraps, too. It's epidemic here in the LA area.

It can, however, be done well:
That flat black paint looks badass!! Harley used that a few years back on some bikes. They called it black denim. I loved it and still do! I'm gonna win in Sin City!

They look okay. Better than Chrome. Chrome looks dumb on most anything made in the last 40 years, doesn't stop people from pimping out their rides with them.

I think it looks great on a lot of cars; old hot rods and muscle cars, for example. Also, I've seen some Nissan S13's that look sharp with it. I think the GTR I posted is sick, and I've seen a few Mercedes G500's that look really cool matte black.

When it's on a Mercedes SL63 AMG, or a new Camaro... not so much!

I found what I was looking for. You take a vintage American Racing Torque Thrust D with the flat gray center and have it powder coated black. Leave the aluminum outter ring polished as is and put a billit aluminum center cap on it with an all black sidewall tire. That would be sweet and would look GREAT on any muscle car. Aw yeah, those are classic. When I do my El Camino, someday, that's my #1 choice!

Kind of like this one...
