It does not thrill me. I like the sides and back ok, but i hate the front. I do not like when American brand cars try to go Japanese looking. I prefer clean lines and angles. I think it looks more like a childrens playtoy or something from an anime film than a muscle car.
As an example, when they added the toyota looking headlights on the Camaro in 1996 (or 1997 I forget), I was dismayed. the rectangular ones were 1000 times better looking. However not everyone agrees with me.
Yeah some of the renders make it look like an Accord Coupe.
I was almost sold on the current Mustang. They are very sweet, but they are IMO just too big for a coupe.
The Mustang is bigger than my WRX sedan.
Plus I'd want a N/A engine in the Mustang and I also hear rumors that Ford wants to turbo it.
I'm a fan of smaller/lighter cars in general, especially when it comes to sporty cars. And I'm more excited about cars like the FR-S and BRZ and can't wait to see other car manufactures follow suit.

It is a little cartoonish but let's not forget that it's an 'artist's rendering." And yeah, it doesn't look much like a classic American muscle car because Ford is looking to transition the Mustang away from "muscle car" to "American sports car" ala the Corvette but with down-market engine options.
Ford has shamelessly aped Aston's grille for its latest design language but they certainly make the best of it.
...
Ford owned both Aston and Jag in the recent past so they can make a case it is their design.
I have owned a couple of Mustangs in the past but as good as the recent cars are I would not consider buying the same old thing again... with this new design I can put it back on my list to consider.
That rendering is a bit too sports car IMO. Mustang has always been more of a muscle car than sports car type of vehicle. Afterall, it was based on a family car chassis for much of it's history.
I read on jalopnik 2014.5 mustang News, Videos, Reviews and Gossip - Jalopnik that two people saw an actual Mustang at a consumer clinic, and from what they saw, this was the closest rendering to it. Does not look like a huge change from the current model to me.

Not with any intellectual honesty they can't seeing how that particular grille design predates Ford's ownership of Aston by decades. I wouldn't put it past Ford to take that tack though; they tried to claim they were the first to put disc brakes on a production car when it was actually Jaguar, as if buying the Jaguar brand entitled them to claim credit for Jag's prior engineering accomplishments.
