When computer modifications started taking the place of internal modification.
No, but just in the segment buying performance cars.
Computer modifications will never take the place of internal modifications. Even on a turbocharged car you will have to touch internals once you start going with larger turbos. I'm keeping my 20G powered Genesis Coupe on a conservative tune for this very reason as I'll need to replace the rods (and do other internals while I'm in there) if I plan to shoot above 350whp (and more importantly the associated torque).

Within a range, sure. Compared to a Challenger, you can do a lot more with bolt-ons and computer mods while the V8's already have to go internal - or add a blower. Read up on it, the challengers max out pretty quick on external modifications. RT owners are struggling to hit low 13's without going inside.

This is untrue. Please just stop posting non sense.
Proof of what?! I owned both. You can go to Challenger Talk and see all the proof you want. Go into any GM or LS forum for that matter as well.
The biggest weak link for the LX cars are the 245 skinny crap tires. The 6.1 SRT's respond very well to bolt on's and tunes. The 392 are just monsters out the door.
If you want to go back to tuning carbs then go for it. I'll stick to fuel injection.

Crappy 245 Potenza's are also my problem. No traction even from a roll. I just feel bad dropping a few grand on wider wheels/tires. I might try a set of 255's on my factory wheels as I know they will fit.

Go wider on the rear...I'm going with 285's on the rear once the stock are worn out and 255 up front. If you want to rotate then try 275 all around.

OEM wheels are only 8.5 inches wide in the rear and will support a 265 tire max. I'll probably go with 255 so it doesn't look too "fat". I know 9.5's will easily support 275's as I've had it on my prior car but if I go with aftermarket wheels I'll probably go 10 in the back.

I guess it's indifference, but I'd rather have 400-hp out of the box (Mustang 5.0, Camaro SS, Challenger SRT) than to start with < 300 hp and work my way up from there.
