I looked at the Accord before buying my Prius V, much different target markets. The new Accord is great IMO. I've owned a tone of Toyotas since a 1977 Corolla, and never a Honda. Not sure why, probably price and dealers. Nothing bad about the Hondas.
In my experience, which spans decades, I've generally replaced struts and rotors at around 90,000 to 120,000. I drive a ton of miles. The only unscheduled maintenance I've had is with a 1996 Avalon at 180,000, I needed to replace the brake line to the rear, it had corroded. This is not an unusual experience either. Most of my Toyotas were made in Kentucky, for those that care about such things. My current Prius is made in Japan.
If you look at the undue pain Toyota endured for such misleading recalls, while looking at say, Ford's recalls during the previous year's rollouts, it would seem an agenda is in play. I've had the Prius for 24 hours now, and I've already achieved the EPA mileage rating. Not unusual, except for a Rav4, I've done better than the EPA combined rating for all Toyotas I've owned.
The new Honda Accord is, IMO, a better car overall than the new Camry. It gets stellar gas mileage, rides well, is quieter than previous Hondas, and is a real treat to drive. It's worth the money. The dealer network for Honda is not setup for as good a deal than Toyota, so while their starting prices are lower, the end result may be different. I'd not have any reluctance buying one. Honda has had more serious problems than Toyota, specifically their V6 transmissions. They handled the problems well, and I trust that will be the end of it. If as much press had been given to Ford's serious issues over the years, the playing field would be more level.
But as it is today, Honda and Toyota are once again near the top, and Ford is in recall and reliability and MPG he!!. There's only so many cheap shots you can give before they find out.
Don't you see it? The Accord you mentioned has been out for about a year and a half and it has 25 complaints already, while the Camry has been out for about two and a half years and has only 28 complaints.
Do Honda owners have more access to internet or more knowledgeable about CarComplaints.com? Doubtful. Keep in mind, there are more Camry owners out there, yet less complaints.
I don't know, but I'll tell you what's better than a 2012 Camry, a 2012 BMW 3-series.
100k units sold in 2012 and ZERO complaints on carcomplaints.com!
You can only get GPS on a Camry XLE and it cost over $2,200?
What what trim level can you get GPS on an Accord and how much does it cost?
Why are GPS not standard already these day and age?
Nope. You can get it on lesser models. Called "entune with nav". With a 6.1" screen. What you refer to is the upgrade to the HDD nav with 7.1" screen and full xm travel services. On the LE and SE models "entune with nav" is a $1050 option.

Can anyone explain why Accord has so many more complaints than Camry for the past decade and more?
Honda's had some issues for sure. Particularly related to their American made V6 engines and transmissions. But let's look at the competition.
Despite stellar marketing, Ford's Fusions, while it looks great, has had several major recalls, not so much talked about in the MSM. Ford is currently doing some major renovations to existing hybrids that were found to get far, far less gas mileage than Ford claims.
The new Accord is a great car, hope all goes well with it. Honda's had a tough few years.
