I wouldn't mind owing a '71 383 'Cuda. Road Test magazine tested a '70 with that engine (not a convertible) and it ran consistent 14.40 1/4 miles (with an average trap speed of 98.97 mph.). No doubt the 3.91 axle ratio helped a lot and the 1970 tires did not help!

But I like them bigger, so I would pick a '69 Coronet R/T with 440-Magnum engine instead, which would also run low-14s with the same axle ratio and high-13s with 4.10s. I would prefer a 2-door hardtop over a convertible, though.

You can reach out and drag your finger nails on the road while you drive. (Not sure why that is fun, but it is).

If it's fun and puts a smile on your face it IS a good car!

Thanks for educating me. I always thought it was Jaguar but that was just their racing cars.

And it appears that Jaguar was the first to use discs on all four wheels, but that's comparatively minor.

I'd love a Lotus Elan, if one could be made reasonably dependable. Something pure & perfect about it.

I've got a friend with two TR3s (one is what he calls a parts car). He parked it the night before he left for Vietnam ('67) and it didn't move again until I talked him into getting it running again in 2003.

Another friend has a stunningly perfect Lotus Elan coupe (rare). The Lotus is better than brand new with the big twin cam motor and dual Webers. He owns a paint shop so the royal blue finish looks like it's a mile deep. Even the brass grommets on the washer fluid bag shine like gold.

I've got a BRG '69 Triumph TR-6 with wire wheels and a BRG '68 (black badged) Lotus Europa twin cam. If you know a bit about Lotus, black badges were used after one of their drivers was killed. In my car's case it was the great Jim Clark's death.

BTW.......Those Jag rear discs weren't fun since they were inboard discs and not out at the wheels.

Yeah I had one of those Jaguars. The rear brakes were a bit of an issue.

Pics of your Triumph? I test drove one back when I was a teenager and man that car could pull.
Always impressed with its big (for the time) 15" wheels... Europa now that's a rarity.

Tried uploading a pic here but C-D doesn't allow that. I'll have to find a place to put them and link to them.

Let's see if this will work...

Here's the Lotus. I'm not much of a photographer. Taken at a small car show. The toddler gives you some idea of just how low that car is.

Again, not the greatest photos. From a Brit car show:
