A Scout with the top off is great fun although the top was very heavy to take off and put back on. I put a roll bar in mine and had a soft top for it. Lots more room in the back for riders. Too bad they rusted so severely, but mechanically, it was a great vehicle. It had a 345 International engine and got 13 mpg. Have a '77 CJ7 with an AMC 304, which is fun, but it has had many mechanical problems through the years.

Send me about $20K, and I'll see what I can do. I should warn you, I don't have much experience spending money, but it might be fun to try.

Take a look at this fun cruiser!!

Looks like Henry Hill's car in GoodFellas! This was the first year for the "new body" Coupe De Ville, nice looking car!

Don't get too excited about that 425c.i. motor, it probably puts out about 180 hp! The late 70's was a terrible time for HP.....

I wouldn't put more than one passenger in an old Jeep. Do you want to carry your kids in something without seat belts?

I would much rather have an old Nissan Pathfinder or Xterra, with four real seats.

Still hoping for an open air type vehicle.

I will of course retrofit seats/belts and rollbar as needed.

It's your lucky day!

I was contacted via email just this morning by the former Chief Banking Officer of a small African nation so once I fax him a few details for direct deposit it's Easy Street for me!

I was actually overtaken by one of those while canoeing once.

It was teal colored and really, really surreal to be paddling next to a car out in the middle of a freshwater lake.

I'm leaning towards an old jeep, possible an early 70s Jeepster Commando

Throw me some suggestions!
I have an early 90s Wrangler that I just love for exactly the reasons you suggested. I had a 1980 Jeep before this one, and due to that, I wouldn't go much older, because parts are harder to find the older the Jeep.
