For reliability the S2000 and Miata are the best.

For styling there is something I like about the BMW Z series but the S2000 and Miata aren't bad.

The SLK and TT look like girl cars and aren't as good as the other choices.

S2000 is incredibly fun to drive, but you either have to fit in it from the start or give up on it. It's not very adjustable.

a few yrs ago we looked at both an '08 miata and an '05 s2000 for a summer toy and picked the s2000 (mainly for the drivetrain). Both are very good cars, just had a much bigger smile on my face driving the s2000 hard compared to the miata.
But it can be difficult to find a good clean s2000, one that is in original condition and not modded by a tuner. And based on the experiences of our son in law who had an '00 s2000 (rear and trans issues esp once his hit the 500hp range) and others with the first gen, i'd maybe recommend '05 and up.

just my .02

Of this group the S2000, but I would include the GM Kappa twins in my search of used $15K roadsters too since I can get a ton of power in the turbo model, and bump it nicely with the GMPP tune.

I would definitely put the Saturn Sky Redline on the list...I drove one once and thought it was fantastic...had also driven its naturally aspirated cousin the Pontiac Solstice and absolutely hated it...Might have enjoyed the GXP a bit more, but the base solstice left a LOT to be desired.

I'd also throw a Porsche Boxster on the list. At 15k, you can easily get into a fairly nice example from Stuttgart.

Kirkham AC cobra in matte aluminum. Unless of course you have a $1,000,000 to buy an original.

edit: just realized it has to be under $15K.

For that money I'd say a Miata with a turbo. Or just buy a used 600cc sport bike and spend the remainder on coke and hookers.
