Yup, ours has gone up too. 2 weeks ago I paid $1.78 (the lowest in several years) and when I filled up yesterday it was $1.98. I sure hope they don't continue to go back up. The lower prices helped a lot of folks.
The lowest I paid was $2.19. Something happened between the last meltdown in 2008 and now. Back then it got down to $1.69 with oil about the same price it is today.
Ours was down to $1.719 a week or two ago, but I filled up this morning, and it was $1.859. By the looks of this thread, I'd better go fill up both cars tomorrow!
But I'm like many posters above and live in an energy producing area. We like the cheap fuel... until our neighbors start getting laid off from their jobs and the economy takes a big hit. I'd like to see oil stabilize at $75-$80/b. That's enough to keep most oil rigs running and prevent recession in the oil producing states.
The difference is much of the increased supply cost more to produce. its lie at one time it was a matter of drilling holes in the ground. Those are likely to go first espeically hard it will be were pipeline means getting it down stream cost more.
