I was a aerospace machinist. I realise they have developed machines and process to machine the engine parts and trans and so on but Im still amazed how precision they mass produce all the machined parts of a car.
Cars shouldn’t cost more than houses, but sticks and bricks cobbled together to form ugly boxes should never cost more than $50k anywhere period. Land and longevity shouldn’t be the prize they are either.

As the saying goes, the thing with land is that (with the exception of a few islands) they aren't making any more of it.
We're comparing a car that are largely made on assembly lines at plants dedicated to specific models, configurations and brands made in massive quantities which reduces costs in material, R&D and even labor - of which does have to meet NHTSA guidelines but standardized design vastly simplifies this - in a process that takes on average between 3 days and a week to complete...
...versus...
A house that typically requires local permits, bonding with utlitity companies, research and compliance with local ordinances for each and every entity considered, requiring more material, more labor, is not assembled by assembly plants but rather workers in a process of which requires several months before a completed product is produce by which hundreds of cars have already hit the road and takes up land which cannot be replenished or replaced unlike a car..
Land isn't cheap.........house value depends on land value.
No it doesn't. Also, OP is talking about cost, not value.
