Let me start by saying I love gadgets but I'm also pretty careful with money because I grew up poor. I'm driving a 2002 accord and the car is running great. Eventually I'll replace the car when it dies.
The one thing that I do want in my car is a decent sound system so I replaced the stock head unit with a pioneer single din with HD radio and USB. I bought some Polk speakers and a small powered subwoofer. And I use my iPhone 5 as a source. Will upgrade to a new iPhone in September.
I feel as though I got a lot of bang for the buck. I use my iPhone for everything, Nav, music, video, etc. The only thing I don't have which I really don't need but is nice to have is a backup camera. Convince me why I should spend on a CarPlay head unit when my phone does almost everything?
Why do you need convincing? Sounds like you already got a setup you like.
Haha. Just a figure of speech. I love the latest tech but can't really justify it as I don't see the need. But I know a lot of people do and I'm curious why they upgrade.

Because they can or want to.
I like OEM radios. Why? I dunno, but I just do.
