I said no, but because it's usually a crowded highway as it is here. If it's clear as the eye can see, of course I would move over. I wouldn't even be in the right lane.

If I can, I move over. If I can't, I slow down. I'm thinking I've also seen that on signs in Indiana, which is why I began moving over one lane.

New York has a "move over" law requiring such a lane change, absent unsafely congested conditions in the other lanes. In New York City, ever try "moving over" on the Henry Hudson Parkway at almost any time? That is why I wrote both yes (for some less congested roads) and "case by case" for urban freeways.

In our case there is also the problem of wind blast and the debris that is always stirred up.

So I say, change lanes if it's safe but at least keep the speed down and keep your eye out for trouble. Many times when traffic is light I have just moved over just half a lane to give whoever might be there a little more room.
^^^This. Once in a blue moon there is just too much traffic and not enough advance warning to get over though but if I have time and space I will 100% get over.

Your area doesn't have traffic jams? Lucky.

I change lane whenever possible or otherwise slow down. It is the law, it is about safety, and, besides, it's just plain-jane, common courtesy.

They do but generally not where\when I drive and unless there is an accident, road construction or a professional sporting event and you are near the stadium it's not too bad.

My commute is about 7 miles with 5 miles of interstate and any real traffic is fairly rare and accident driven.

I used to live in Chicago and it's kinda like that only take 80% of the cars off the road.
