crowded, slow moving traffic, if you are just nudging over to the next lane?

Seems to me that, for example, if you are doing this to set for a right and turn, two lanes each direction, and you turn your signal to say you are moving left, but then almost immediately moving right and then you signal for that turn, that that could confuse the cars, buses, etc, behind and in front of you.

If I do signal left, to set for the turn and then signal right, that seems to me, to give an ok for the car behind me to squeeze in the far right lane and then taking away the space I was trying to set myself for.

Starting work for this one company that mandates that you do, even if you are already hugging the dividing line and just want to move 2 or 3 feet to the right or left and take the two lanes so you can make the turn.

Do you like moving violations? Changing lanes without a signal is a moving violation. So is partially changing lanes.

IMO most experienced drivers are used to seeing large vehicles swing into an adjacent lane to make a wide turn. Some trucks even have placards on the back warning of this maneuver.

Whether both signals are required or not, don't know. Is this not covered in CDL license training ?

When driving a truck, they are not supposed to swig into the adjacent lane. The wide part of the turn is supposed to be on the road they're turning on to and not the one they are coming from. That's what was covered when I got my CDL long ago. Yes, I know there are some places where they may have to, but generally they are not supposed to.

Looking at a CDL manual from CT, it says the same thing. See page 73 and Fig 42 of
http://www.ct.gov/DMV/lib/DMV/20/29/comdr.pdf

Of course there could be a vehicle in the crossing lane blocking such a turn. Many times I have seen a truck driver (and buses) have to wait until that lane clears.

What is all this noise?

Just drive like a courteous human being who respects the safety of his fellow motorists. That should answer your question, whatever the heck your question is.
