I once counted 32 different safety warnings on a 98-cent extension cord.

If I wrote/spoke English that way, I'd be careful about whom I called stupid.

The worse part about that is the warnings themselves become a safety hazard, nobody reads them and something that may be really dangerous that should have a warning is overlooked.

Bingo!! Meaningless* warnings soon make warnings meaningless.

(*stupid, obvious, redundant, silly, repetitive, CYA-only, and -possibly- best not have pointed out, -type warnings) Then again, lawsuits foster the (silly) CYA warnings, so, we're back to "what we wanted" I guess.

Some of them were ways to kill pets. Some of them only averted injury. One of them was a warning to not leave it plugged in when not in use. Like, if your bedside reading lamp is plugged into it, before you go to sleep you have to crawl under the bed and pull it out of the wall.

You hit the nail on the head.

I have a few relatives that don't take good care of their vehicles, one of them is my aunt who just gases up and drive . when stuff goes bad she complains, wanting a new car, back to paying notes even if the car she has is paid off.

I said to her "well, if you take care of your vehicle it last longer than getting a new car"

Not to mention, I take car of my vehicles and when I'm on the oil change(I do it myself) people tell me I care too much for my vehicle . I'm like "well, people can care too much for their dogs and pets that just sits, barks , take a crap and sleep. But not care for their vehicles that does more"
