Initially the problem was intermittent where the radio shut off, the air went off, power windows stopped working, headlights stopped working, and all indicators on the dash illuminated. When I parked and looked at the car, the fog lights just rapidly flicker.
Issue has been happening more frequently. It seems like it is something electrical. I took out the battery and cleaned the connections for the 3 ground points under the battery tray. Put it all back together, same issue.
Are there any other ground points? It looks like there is one on the engine, too, but it has a weird type of wire that just connects it a couple inches below.
Fixed it, FYI for those who stumble upon it years down the road:
At one of the ground studs (G103), there is a ring terminal that has about 7 wires in it. That terminal was corroded so none of those wires were getting ground. G103 is one of the 3 ground points under the battery holder. It is the lowest one and the one closest to the front of the vehicle.
To check, you need a multimeter. Remove the ring terminal from the ground post. Set your meter to ohms. Touch one end of the probe to the ring terminal, and the other end to the negative post on the battery. You should get 0.1 or so. If you get a HIGH NUMBER or INFINITY (sometimes shown as 1), then it's not a good connection. You will have to re-cut, strip, crimp, and then connect all the wires in new ring terminals and re-connect to the ground lug.
For those of you who want to do a step by step check starting at the IPM and who have some general electrical knowledge.
This is a good video:
These are the ground points in the IPM I had to check:
c1 black/dark green pin 6
c7 black/orange pin 8
c5 black/yellow pin 14
c4 grey/black pin 12
c5 black/yellow pin 8 bad ground ... which connected to G103.
[Also another common solution is the positive cable that runs to the bottom of the IPM, that is held on by a nut, has a break in it, so the IPM is not getting power. You can piggy back a 4 gauge wire from positive terminal to this nut. Full readup can be found here: Flickering lights on our Pacifica - Chrysler Forum - Chrysler Enthusiast Forums ]
Yes, yes, yes!!!! This was exactly what was wrong with my 2005 Pacifica. That could have been me in the video. Mine was the front ground lug. C5 black/yellow pin 14 wire. Actually all the wires on that lug just broke off when I started playing with it. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
Omg! Please help. I have a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica, new alternator and battery. Every time I put it in reverse, the car dies. As along as it's in drive it works fine. Was told I might need a converter torque, but before I buy another part will someone please give me a clue where to start? Oh yea, before I began to have this problem a shade tree mechanic tried to put a part on my ground wire that runs to the transmission and when my husband took it for a test drive, the battery went up in smokes! We took the part off and bought the correct part for the ground wire, then that's when my problems started. No electrical problems or no lights on on the dash.
