Yes check the fuse first. If its ok, I would disconnect the connector fron the motor and turn the swithch on. Get a multimeter and check to see if theres power going through the wire
You can easily usually figure it out, its like any other basic electric circuit, as long as you know the basics of reading a voltage, reading resistance, checking to see if the power is making it to the motor or the motor itself is open. The big toll stores these days sometimes give away electronic digital test meters free or sell them under $10, stores such as Harbor Freight etc.
Anyway that will point you towards the problem i direction or the other, and yes check the fuse too if thats the easiest point to get to.

You will want to fix it before driving in the rain, you could get a ticket in addition to it being unsafe. Meanwhile, though, it would help tio apply Rain-X to the windshield, to maintain visibility if it does rain before you get it done. I have replaced wiper motors before, it's not too hard, but the switch is a lot more difficult. On your BMW it can be expensive. Hopefully it's just the fuse. You can buy a refurbished motor for under $50, the switch for about $150, if you can do it yourself. Look for tutorials on YouTube and see if it looks like you could manage it.
