You can be ticketed for excessive acceleration if witnessed by a police officer.

Do they? I dunno.

I've seen a lot more Toyotas that fit that description than I have Chevys.... and I cut the resonators off my Challenger... added some Blastin' Bobs as well as dual Flowmasters and mine isn't 20% as loud as some of the ricers I've heard around here.

That's because I didn't set my car up to annoy the *#&# out of the driver next to me.

I don't speed, but I love accelerating from 0 to 5 to 7 miles over the speed limit as quick as I can. Is it time paint my car a different color or give it a vinyl wrap?
If you're accelerating to 5 to 7 miles above the speed limit then you are speeding. Most municipalities have excessive acceleration laws on their books so if a cop sees you driving like you said you do, you can be ticketed. Remember most traffic laws are there to generate revenues for the city. An unmarked car parked close to where you work would net a windfall of citations issued to you. They love taking advantage of the stupid. Its the nail that is sticking out that gets the hammer.

Bull crap. NYPD is not sending a Detective to your place of business [ how did they find that ?] To give you a Chat about a V&T violation .
By the way you did break a V&T law. It is called "unsafe start " look it up

Thank you. The tippy tap of little goat hooves going over the bridge was truly deafening in the original post!

Neither do most Honda/Toyota owners

I think my next move is to donate to all fundraisers sponsored by them and drive another vehicle during the work week for awhile.

My brother went to jail for that when a cop saw him, called "exhibition of speed" and my father had to bail him out. You can bet they will be looking for you. The result can be 90 days in jail, $1,000 fine, suspended license 90 days, car impounded 30 days, or all of the above.

Technically 5-7 over the limit is speeding, so yes you do speed.

Time to paint your car? No it's time to stop driving like an ass. You aren't accelerating as quick as you can when you "peel out" anyway, that's just showing you don't know how to drive.
