G35/G37. Probably the definitive 30k millionaire car here in Arizona, for whatever reason. The 3-series and CLA too.

Rarely see anyone without gray hair in a Corvette out here, and most of them are sitting on more money than they know what to do with in the limited time that they have left.

Entry level luxury cars are around the same price as basic med-level sedans. So nothing special about entry level luxury cars (3 Series, etc)

Speaking of Scottsdale, when I visited there, I have never seen so many Caymans/Boxsters in one place. Even more then the NYC metro area where I live (everyone and their grandma drives a BMW here).

Those cars cost about as much as 3 year old 3 Series...they should be just as unattainable for those people, yet no one bats an eye.

If someone wants to buy a used "luxury" car instead of a new plain sedan, that's just a personal choice. I personally never think "oh, that person must have money!" when I see any 3 series (old or new).

Now, The real morons are the ones who'll go for an M5 or AMG63 with a rebuilt or salvage title....

The Mazda is new and covered by warranty...and pretty reliable...the used off lease 3 series is not under warranty, not reliable, and will most likely require expensive repairs...

the whole "30K millionaire" deal is someone of modest income projecting an aura of a "baller" which driving a used 3 series vs a brand new 6 sport does...
The used 3 series allows the 30K millionaire to try to pick up the ladies with his "Beamer" as opposed to the sensible Mazda which is better use of $$

Nope. Although they can be more expensive, those vehicles wouldn't create the illusion that the 30k millionaire has made it.

Exactly what the 30k millionaire doesn't want you to know .

Definition: 30k Millionaire; "A 30k millionaire is a person, usually a guy, who makes around 30k a year, usually from working at a window tinting shop, loan office, or an occupation that does not by any means require a college degree. With his pitiful a income, he spends it all on bottles of champagne at clubs, a boat,a nice car, and sometimes a 3-day trip to Vegas, only to be left with nothing in his account by overdraft fees and possibly a pending loan." [Urban Dictionary]

What cars do you see as the top choice for this niche group of fellows?

My picks:
  • Non-M, 3-5yr old BMW 3-Series
  • 3yr+ Corvettes
  • Mercedes CLA class
A 3 year old Corvette is still over $50k.
I'd say V6 Camaro and Mustang of any year.

^^This.

BMW has pretty cheap leases, likely a strategy since they don't have entry level models like Toyota\Lexus etc.

Story as old as time though.

Young guys putting on fronts while living with parents etc. or spending every cent they have has been around since the Romans drove chariots to work.
