Current gen Explorer police interceptor as well

Also, Dodge Charger police cars as well. I'll just assume most police cars are built with column shift

I'm another in the "column shift" = "manual transmission" camp.

I had a 3-on-the-tree 1972 Ford Maverick. I sheered it off in subzero weather once and had to drive it 5 hours to where I had access to a junk yard and steering wheel puller to swap in a replacement. I had to crawl under on a downhill stretch on the highway to get it into 3rd gear for the drive.

My dad had an early 1960's Mercedes with a 4 speed manual on the column.

Mid-80's pickups were the last of them. 1986 F-series and 1987 C-series

But it did last one year more than the Town Car/Grand Marquis (although only for the Middle Eastern market).

The Impala Limited ended production in May.

I wasn't counting trucks/SUVs. Wasn't aware it was also available on the Charger.

I had a 2016 Suburban as a loaner recently and it had a column shifter (yes, it was an automatic).

It was refreshing.

In Oregon, the state police have used auto transmissions for the past 25 years.

Hello people.... We're talking manual transmission on the column...not automatics.

The last vehicle I drive with a manual on the column was a 1970 Ford Bronco in 1993.

You still have to select a speed and direction on an automatic. It does not matter if it is automatic or manual.
