Specifically, use it for passing! It doesn't matter your speed. If you're slowing someone behind you, move right.

If only everyone would take the 3 minutes to watch this. Its amazing to me how many people can be driving and see somebody behind them who wasn't there two minutes ago, and can't figure out they are trying to go faster.

I never see this law enforced though.

why?

if you are 80 in a 60 and somebody wants to do 105 in a 60, why should you move. serious, why should people be allowed unlimited speed in the left lane. I could understand 55 in a 60 but if you are allready speeding or if the car ahead of you is slowing you , why should you have to move because somebody behind you want to go faster. why?

Exactly. They complain about people in the left lane but they break the law by speeding how ironic

Because that's the law in the majority of states. Give way, without regard to the speeds being traveled. If only this topic had been covered before, that would help in this discussion so much.

Someone didn't watch the video. It gave several reasons. The number one reason: it is the law. Another reason: safety. There's more. Watch it.

By your comment, I don't think you watched the video to the end. It comments on Germany and the autobahns which in some areas have no speed limits. It's simple, even if you're doing 80 in the left lane and someone comes up behind you and you there is sufficient space in the right lane for you to move over to let them pass without requiring you to drop your speed to 50, you move over. As the video also states in most states the law is keep right, pass left. The car just cruising along in the left lane getting passed by people on the right is more dangerous than someone driving slightly over the speed limit.

I really don't think 80 in a 60 vs someone "wanting to do 105 in a 60" is really that common, more like it's the guy doing 70 in a 60 who won't move over for someone who wants to do 75.

I drive a tractor-trailer, if I'm passing someone in and someone comes up and tailgates me, no I'm not going to slow down and move over, when I get past the vehicles I'm passing I will move over. By the same token, don't tailgate me if I'm in the right lane doing the speed limit and I'm getting passed by someone in the middle lane, if you tailgate me then, I'll drop my speed by about 5 mph.

This whole left lane thing comes up every week. Whatever. I'm a right lane, speed limit driver. I avoid the left lane at all costs. You speeders have at it. I'll be relaxing, listening to my book on tape.

The same folks that don't like folks driving less than 100 mph in the left lane don't like us old folks driving the speed limit in the right lane. No matter what you do some AH is always on your rear bumper.

yep, its called impeding the flow of traffic.

What unlimited speed?? If someone is in the way, they are forced to go no faster than the person blocking the flow. If they are not in the way and its clear, what do you care?
