They're for lazy people who already hate driving and see it as a chore. Any self-respecting car guy would NEVER own one.
I don't know... If you are one of these people taking a 1 hour commute in the morning and you look over and see the other driver taking a nap? I like driving but being stuck in traffic is not fun.
After all these years, they still haven't figured out how to secure a credit card number on the internet. And they want me to put my life in the hands of their gizmos? No thanks.
Using your credit card over the internet to purchase something is much safer than using the phone or even at the local store. The issue is what happens beforehand or afterward. These hacks occur either on your end if for example someone has been able to exploit your personal computer or they break into network connected servers. Those networked servers would include ones at the brick and mortar store which is where most of the recent hacks have occurred. In the few cases where I have seen CC information stolen solely from internet it's because they were not following protocols such as storing that information in an insecure manner.

I love cars.
LOVE.
Since I was a tiny tot of 2 or 3.
But I HATE HATE HATE HATE bumper to bumper traffic (also plays a little on my claustrophobia).
It's very, very nice to set the adaptive stop-and-go cruise and just let the tension out a little bit after a long overnight shift. The massaging seats don't really massage, though. Just kind of grope you.
As long as they produce a good track record it won't be long.
Maybe for fleet duty where they can control conditions somewhat.
Might need seasonal drivers if they don't figure out snow.
I'm sure these prototypes are also meticulously maintained.
Joe Schmoe who rarely changes his oil and never washes the bird poop off his car will have to wait.
The stop sign thing is a great example.
Computers don't realize and anticipate all the aholes who break the rules.
Have you ever noticed you can tell what another driver is going to do based on the posture of their car?
I'm serious. It's subtle but something you pick up after years of driving without staring at your phone the whole time. You can fairly reliably predict what other drivers are going to do - especially stupid sh**.
I don't think computers will fare as well, though they may be able to react faster. Reacting isn't as good as anticipating, though.
