Turn signals are a lot like Ex Lax! They can help smooth flow of traffic.
If everyone else took ex-lax the roads would be less congested for me.

Yesterday, a driver Sat in the middle lane, all the way to the exit and then exited from the middle lane even though there was plenty of room and time to get over to the exit only lane. I see it all the time. I also see it at turn lanes like you describe. I can't figure out why they do it even when there are no cars around.

They're probably driving with their knees and playing Candy Crush or some such nonsense!

Much as I bristle at this advice it is good advice. It only takes one instance where the oaf not only believes his time is more valuable than yours but if confronted may snap and become a real danger. I do admire you wife's spunk however. My wife is a complete doormat. I kid with her that every time she drives I'm losing minutes off my life.

Most conventional turns, onr doesn't need to lose no more than about 5mph.

This. I hate when people don't use them...or at tge last motherfugging second after they brake and turn. I give those people a good dose of horn. Idiots. If I had a a Go Rhino on my car, I'd give'm a hand with their turn.

I never really paid attention to the speed, but I checked today while driving my Tacoma with oversize all terrain tires. I could easily make a 90 degree turn going 10-15mph with no drama, no tire squealing. For someone driving a car with low profile tires there's no reason to slow to 5mph while turning.
