My car is a 2004 lexus gx470 never had a problem starting since I bought it. When ignition is turned on, everything comes on, lights, fuel gauge and everything else comes on but car won't start. Bought new battery, still won't start but when jumped starts the car runs.

"when jumped starts the car runs" says that the electrical system is OK except for the new battery.

I'd check:

1) draw test the battery as installed at the cable connections; if good, then the battery and terminals are good; if not good, verify that the cable ends are clean and making good contact to the battery terminals.

2) Draw test the new battery directly at it's terminals to be certain that it can deliver the required energy (volts/amps) to the system; if not, a defective battery -- replace.

Are you jumping it by connecting the negative cable to the battery terminal or the chassis? You might have a broken or corroded ground cable.

I've had that happen twice. Relatively new battery tests "good" but won't start the car? Both times it was a bad cell, meaning (as sunsprit said) a defective battery.

'NEW' batteries don't always come fully charged.

Also, if your car has bad alternator (and you replaced battery thinking that was the problem) the bad alternator CAN'T charge the 'NEW' battery that didn't come fully charged . . .
