I happen to be a tall driver, so head room means something to me.
Any cars to recommend?
Try a Dodge Charger without a sunroof. It is about the only big powerful car one can get with a v8 engine and without a sunroof. At a lower price point compare the Camry LE without a sunroof to the XLE with a sunroof. The sunroof removes about 2 inches of headroom.

They're all within a few tenths. Either custom seat rails or recline of the seat is going to be the only difference in headroom between them, although, yeah Charger and Chevy SS are the only non-luxury cars that come with a V8 anymore. Luxury makes probably all include the sun roof these days.

I use to love Chrysler, somehow they have slipped and now even the Jeeps are junk.
Back in '13 I recall Car and Driver magazine road testing one. I was quite surprised by the 1/4 mile time for this car:
C/D TEST RESULTS: Zero to 60 mph: 6.1 sec
Zero to 100 mph: 15.1 sec
Zero to 120 mph: 23.1 sec
Rolling start, 5-60 mph: 6.3 sec
Top gear, 30-50 mph: 3.6 sec
Top gear, 50-70 mph: 3.9 sec Standing ¼-mile: 14.5 sec @ 98 mph
Top speed (governor limited): 129 mph
Braking, 70-0 mph: 168 ft
Roadholding, 300-ft-dia skidpad*: 0.82 g

Why is that surprising? Same and nearly identical weight as the Camry.
Avalon is so much more comfy and smoother than then Camry. Test drive it.
Always strange when people here think the Avalon is like the ES. The ES is more like the Camry than Avalon
I owned Saturn L200, Mazda 3, Honda Accord in the past.
In general, I like Mazda 3 and Honda Accord. But Mazda 3 is very noisy on highway, Accord is better but still not as quiet as I want it to be. Based on limited experience with Camry rentals, Camry seems to be quieter than Accord.
I'll consider Avalon seriously if it's really quiet and comfy!
There are definitely even quieter cars out there. For instance, I rented Volvo multiple times, Volvo S90 is way superior to any car I've ever owned. But I don't want to spend more than 30k on a car.

I wasn't thinking about the Camry. More like some of the muscle cars of yore when 14.5 was considered a good time for an unmodified car.
