WD40 is just oil, very Very VERY light oil.
Use soapy water made from any soap that is OK on glass. IE: liquid dishwasher soap, hand soap.
Next time, fill a spay bottle with 2/3-1/3 rubbing alcohol and water to de-ice windows (or door locks). This melts the ice and then evaporates away clean.

This Trick Will Defrost Your Windshield In Seconds
I grew up in the north so I just used an old gallon milk-jug filled with tap water. But the trick here is to use cold tap water, NOT hot. Hot will crack your glass from the temperature jump. I've used cold many times and not had a problem, except when it's super cold, and the water I use melts the snow, but then freezes as a sheet, and I have to use a second 'dose' to melt that sheet.
