I dont think any of them shut off. They may have in the past but as far as I know it will run until it is shut off and then wont start again without the fob. In my car it also dings loud as heck if the fob leaves the car.

There's too many remote start systems to make a blanket statement about this.

My aftermarket remote start works with the doors unlocked, but the engine shuts off instantly if the brakes are pressed.

My truck's factory remote start states that the fob has a maximum range of 300 ft (91 m). Doors must be closed and transmission in Park to remotely start, then the engine cannot be shifted out of park without the key present inside the vehicle.

System would be programmed to NOT stop if vehicle is in motion or in Drive. If then put in Park, engine would shut down after some period of time.

There have been cases of cars left running in attached garages, and people suffering carbon monoxide poisoning.

Mine will shut off if you try to shift it out of park. The fob has to be in the car for it to run beyond 15 minutes. After that, if there is no fob, it will shut off.

I've got two, one on my 98, it will start, (will not move without key in ignition) and if I accidentally unlock the doors, it will run until it gets to the minimum allowed, (@3 gals) of gas, then it won't run without key in ignition. I can walk away from the car as far as I want, it will run.

My other, 200, will start, run, but not shift or move until the key is in ignition. also shuts off on minimum gas.

I was thinking in terms of factory systems. I dont even know how aftermarket systems work (beyond the rudimentary idea)
