There are no purely American vehicles.
All new cars sold in the United States will cost more — to build and probably to buy — if the Trump administration imposes an auto tariff. The Commerce Department is considering tariffs on cars assembled at foreign plants and on foreign-made auto parts. American auto parts makers don't have capacity to build all the parts domestically that are currently imported.
Vehicle costs will be significantly higher.
E.g.The cost of a car with 35% imported parts would increase by $2,000 with a 25% tariff on parts.

These increased prices wont affect a billionaire who sits on a gold toilet in a luxury mansion high in the sky and spends weekends in a luxurious resort playing golf. he hasnt a clue what its like to go out everyday and earn an honest wage where price increases are felt in real terms.

The intent is to force car manufacturers to make the parts here as well. That’s the intent of any tariff.
It’s also a leveraging tactic. When you have a $330B trade deficit to another country, it’s the other country that has more to lose.

For many middle class wage earners, an extra $2000 (or more) on the price of a new vehicle doesn't mean much. Many of us have no intention of buying a new vehicle that has a MSRP of nearly our annual income!
Oh, sure, I would really like to have a new 3/4 ton diesel truck, but at nearly (or over) $60K It will never happen.
Besides, ALL of my vehicles now qualify for the PERMANENT registration system (11 years old or older). Sure, the first time registration is pricey ($250+), but the registration never has to be renewed as long as I own the vehicle.

Unfortunately, most of low-income class America doesn't understand that Republicans are not with them. Every policy they start are NOT to their advantage. An increase in cars or consumer products - most of the middle class and all of the upper middle class will be able to absorb that increased cost. Yeah, they'll complain and bicker, but in the end their lives will be mostly the same.

A $2000 increase to a Camry or Accord will be disappointing, but most households can handle this. Actually, it will not even be noticeable with the current "loan lifestyle - make a monthly payment" of Americans these days.

Not so for the lower-income class, who actually votes more for Trump/Republicans.

They don't get it.

"More than 45 million people, or 14.5 percent of all Americans, lived below the poverty line last year, the Census Bureau reported on Tuesday. The percentage of Americans in poverty fell from 15 percent in 2012, the biggest such decline since the year 2000. But the level of poverty is still higher than 12.3 percent in 2006, before the recession began."

The OP's source of fake news need to be taken with a large grain of salt.

As a country we're loosing billions in not being able to export our USA made products due to unfair tariffs against US products. Years of anti-American international trade are finally unmasked by a capable president who understands that our future was deem at best and something had to change.

Don't worry, these tariffs are part of a negotiation process, Germans already accepted to drop tariffs to zero (what our president really wants) on both sides (was about 20% more for Germans to import American cars).
The results of a smart negotiation it will be an economy much stronger resulting in a better life standard for working people in USA.

Unfortunately the fake news and the left are creating unnecessary duress on people with their propaganda of resist at all cost (they have no real agenda besides spreading hate).

28173, stop swimming, drinking, and bathing in the Chump (Trump) Kool-Aid pool.

Just because the truth challenges your illusion of "reality" doesn't make it "fake".

Accept the reality that you support a racist, misogynistic, ignorant, unread, and boorish traitor-in-chief.

If that stark truth makes you uncomfortable, then congratulations, you may still have a conscience.

Turn away from his darkness and reject his evilness, it's not too late.

None of this is even close to true. Unfortunately, we now have a great leader who is as ignorant of global economics as most internet posters, and think the system is no more complex than grocery shopping and getting a really, really good deal on a car from Rookyew Ford.
