I don't hold women to that same standard though.

That *is* an unpopular opinion.

Care to elaborate as to why?

What about those who can drive a vehicle with a manual transmission yet choose to drive a car with an automatic?

Nothing wrong with that. An automatic can be the more practical choice for several reasons.

My unpopular opinion is that one is deficient in basic life skills if they're not *able* to drive a vehicle with a manual transmission.

It's like not being able to ride a horse!*

*Just kidding. Horses are utterly useless creatures unless properly cooked.

Okay, good reply. Certainly better than some replies I've read when discussing manual vs automatic.

Actually since the C5 they are plastic. A plastic composite that has a scant amount of fiberglass, just like the old saturns and 4th gen fbodies. Some even have carbon fiber added. Their chassis is aluminum with magnesium parts.

I don't think CVT's are nearly as bad as people make them out to be, they offer similar and sometimes better performance than traditional automatics. For example Dodge Charger V6 vs Nissan Maxima V6 the Maxima is significantly faster, and its front wheel drive as well compared to a 8-speed RWD charger.

I think front bench seats and column shifters rule.
