First car: 1966 MG Midget
Drove it twice before selling it - bought it for $60 from the car dealer I worked at (it was a trade-in) and drove it home. The next day, while driving it around the block, something burst and oil started spraying out all over the place. I gave it to a friend who fixed it up and drove it around for a while before it finally gave out completely.

Favorite car: 1997 Ford Contour
I bought the car new and drove it HARD for the first 3 or 4 years. I didn't maintain it very well, and only replaced things when they broke. Despite all that, the car lasted more than nine years and had 160,000 miles on it before I sold it, and gave me very few problems. The only things I had to replace were the timing belt (at 95k), the alternator, fuel pump and an oxygen sensor. There was probably also a battery or two in there somewhere... I replaced the fuel pump and oxygen sensor myself, so they were low cost repairs.

Overall, I was extremely satisfied with that car. It was very comfortable to drive, had pretty good zip for a 4-banger, looked pretty good and handled well for a compact sedan. The reliability of that car was amazing - I've never owned anything that took so much abuse and didn't hardly complain. I never even had to replace the clutch, despite my aggressive driving style for the first few years.

I drove a little blue Courier that actually performed very well and didn't have to deal with the whole rust issue in CA...

The seat belts had tags that read MAZDA... At least for a time, the Courier was subcontracted to MAZDA...

First car: 1981 Ford Fairmont. What a steaming pile of dung. I was so happy the day that thing died for good so that had a bullet-proof excuse to get a different car.

Favorite car: Tie. The two cars I wish I had back are my Subaru WRX wagon and my Porsche 924S.

A tiny little 350cc engine in that big ol' car? Wow...

1st car: 1974 AMC Gremlin X w/big 6cyl. and 4 on the floor.

Favorite: Believe it or not was a 1989 Buick Electra wagon. Drove it for almost 15 years and not a week goes by that I don't wish that I had it back. Hauled everything with that car.

My first car was a 1975 Triumph Tr-6 that looked just like this one. Wish I still had it!

And yes Ultrarunner, it was made by Mazda, marketed by Ford, before Ford came out with the little Ranger.

Mine was the same color as the baby blue one (1979) but had the nose of the red one. (1977)

First car was a 1955 Ford Victoria. I bought it for $40.00 and hated it. After driving it for 3 weeks I put a brick on the gas pedal and waited for the motor to blow up. Told my mom that piece of junk stopped running and I bought the 56 Chevy I really wanted.

My best car was the 1954 Studebaker Commander drag car I sold recently. 2200lbs 800HP 0-120mph in 6.3 sec. My Dr would not sign the physical I needed to continue to drive it in competition. If someone will tell me how to post pictures from my computer files I'll put some here.
