There will never be a Rivian nameplate on the road. And Ford will probably build F-150E's the same way they build the current ones: in Detroit and KC plants staffed by... US working robotic systems.

I spent some time at the Rivian booth at the LA Auto Show. I was quite impressed with the truck and suv models on display.

Who knows if it will ever come to market though.

Could be a threat to Tesla IF they can actually deliver.

We'll see if anything comes of it... they still have the same pricing problems everyone else has.

I think there's a good chance a Rivian or Ford electric truck will have considerable fleet sales regardless of price. City or county governments, utilities, and company vehicles, all who want or have to be green as possible. If you have an ICE fleet pickup at $30K and a Rivian fleet truck at $100k, they'll justify and approve the added expense. Some organizations have renewable energy targets they have to meet.

Why would a plug-in EV have no range issues? Will Ford be selling them with a 50-mile extension cord?

Solid logic, but I don't think the price spread will be anywhere near that much. For one thing, I think even fleet pickups go for more than $30k, and an E version need not exceed $50k. Not two or three years from now with a major maker's resources.

Plug in as in Plug in hybrid.

A Rivian truck with little to no tech support nor parts?

How many Tesla police cars and government vehicles do you see? Contrary to popular belief, the number of municipalities trying to get to an all renewable fleet is fairly small. And upfront cost does matter.

Okay. I wouldn't use the term that way - a plug in is an EV that is recharged by plugging in (i.e. pretty much all of them). A hybrid that has plug-in boosting is... something else.

But I get you now.

There will never be a Rivian truck. I'd bet good money that there was never any intention of there being one.
