Has this thread been done before? If so, I apologize. Thought it might be worth a laugh.

1988 Nissan Sentra - bought used as a college student. Was a runner and tried to sell for $1000 when I graduated, but couldn't find a taker (for $1000!), so gave it to charity.

1990 Toyota Camry - parents hand me down car - transmission went at 150K. Salvaged.

2003 I think Hyundai Elantra - ran surprisingly well considering I bought it off the street from a semi sketchy dude, did have to replace the alternator - totalled in Nassau County.

2005 Honda Civic - sold to me by sister, very reliable car - totalled in Queens

2012 Honda Accord - current

That's not FATE.

Out of interesting ones I had, I had 91 Civic that was a go anywhere turn key. I bought it for $250 from associate. I gave it away to a patient of mine, what made his life much easier, as he could actually drive to shop. He then taught both of his daughters how to drive with it and gave it to his friend. I believe, it is still running.

As of "fateful" ones, 87 Taurus come to mind. Bought for $1100, replaced literally everything, engine included. Literally, beside seats and dash, that thing had everything replaced, it was falling apart so badly. I left state, family sold it to some guy for $500 who never showed up to pick it up and it was towed away.

We owned over 30 cars, will take pages here... I just tossed in more curious ones...

Just a few of many

My first car was a 68 Javelin. Rebuilt the engine and customized. ( Beer tap for a shifter) Sold it when I went to college. The kid who bought it wrecked the darn thing in under 3 months.

Her first car was a Pinto and over the years it literally fell apart, got side swiped in a parking lot. we donated it to the local vo-tech school.

73 Vega .. Body & interior like new but it drank a quart of oil every week, sold it to a guy who said he wanted to put a V8 in to race it.

78 MG Midget . Just got married. Our first irresponsible purchase together, traded in after the birth of our first child.

80 AMC Spirit, the Gremlins big brother and the most affordable family car we could manage for a long time. Donated to charity in the late 90's as neither of my kids wanted it.

90 Dodge Spirit. Totaled less than 100 yards from my entrance into work. The airbags did not deploy, the guy who hit me had no insurance and no drivers license. I had just put on a new set of tires, they still had the little stubby rubber ejection points on them

Ford Windstar, Best vehicle we ever owned when the kids were young and growing. Had 130K miles plus and showing some front suspension problems when we turned it in under the cash for clunkers program in 2009.

Cars we have now are pretty boring but have been dependable. Both now 10 years old +. When we get another it will be a minivan, as they are simply more comfortable as we get older and provide more utility for our specific needs.

Most interesting ones:

02 Acura RSX - Traded in after being hit by a drunk driver in a van while parked at a restaurant

07 Subaru Legacy GT Spec B - Only around 300 of these were made. Sold it privately before a cross country move. He then put a bunch of stickers and nonsense on it and totaled it a few months later(followed him on the forum). He parted it out. Should have just kept it and shipped it.

'91 Passat, totaled - junked
'92 GSX, sold as more or less rolling chassis. Owner planned on rebuilding engine/transmission. No idea if that happened or it just got parted out. Miss it, just didn't have time with college + work to pull the engine/trans and bought the S2000.
'99 Accord, totaled - junked
2001 S2000, sold when I went abroad for work. Really wish I hadn't but parents drew the line at storing one car so kept the Accord and sold the S.
2008 Mazda3, sold
'14 Prius current.
'03 Ninja 250, collects dust in garage. Carbs need to be cleaned out synced and valves adjusted.
'99 CBR600F4 current.

My story begins in 2002...
1993 Police car---built in the drive-way, sold to a neighbor's kid 2 years later

1995 Trans Am---bought for $4500 with 147K miles on it. Everyone said I was crazy. Ran like a top, minus a heater core replacement, until I wrecked it, it was repaired, and I sold it for $6500 to someone who ran drugs in it, and it ended up in impound.

1988 Mustang GT---bought it as "non-running" from a customer at the dealership I worked at for $1000. Crate motor, crate transmission, etc. and turned it into an obnoxious daily. Gave it to my Dad a year and a half later and got a 2001 WS.6 as early inheritance when he sold his place and asked me what I wanted within a specific budget.

2001 WS.6---traded it even for a 2002 Infiniti G20 after graduating college

2011 C6 Z06---bought new, played with it for a year, traded it for a 2012 370Z

Sold the G20

Daily'ed the 370Z

Decided to move further north, traded the 370Z for a 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee loaded out with HEMI, QD2

Jeep was a POS as Chrysler often is. Traded for a 2015 mazda CX5 2 years later.

Mazda CX5 was awesome, until fuel pump and fp regulator both died right after getting fuel. Liked it so much I traded it in for a 2019 CX5 turbo model.

Present day, driving the CX5 turbo with 16K miles on it and loving it.
