There are some of us who can't drive the little shoe box cars for a multitude of reasons. I'd love to be able to get in and out of those little itty bitty cars but can't not to mention that the seats in those cars generally are not multi-way adjustable either.
I'd love it if they'd make a vehicle that got better than the 18-22 mpg that was comfortable.
Try sitting in a Focus. They are very well designed to accomodate larger folks or folks with mobility problems.

That might be true, but better yet try getting hit in the rear by a Focus.
I had a gal hit me in the rear with her Ford Focus and it totally destroyed her car, deployed both air bags of which one caught on fire while she was sitting there Dazed in the drivers seat. Luckily for her I got out immediatly and went back to see if she was OK. The smoke and fumes had overwhelmed her in seconds and I had to drag her out of the car to save her life.
My Chevrolet Venture Van had very minor damage and her car was a wreck.
Almost all these little cars have a downside and you need to weigh out the risks not just the mileage.
My van is a full sized minivan and gets 26 + MPG on the hiway with no problem. Why whould I trade for a Focus.
Where can you get gas for $3.40? That is a bargain
We're right around that in Tucson, AZ... there are a couple of Arco stations that are even less - like $3.30, but they charge you an additional charge for using a debit card (and they do not accept credit cards) So basically you end up paying the same price, just different fees.
Good site. It's interesting to see how large the gas taxes are in some states.
I shudder to think that when I put $30 in my tank....how much of that $30 winds up back with the government? If say...exxons's profit margin is 10% and they get $3....and it costs about $18 to get it out of the ground and turned into gas....that leaves $9 going to gas taxes, taxes on import, mineral fees, taxes on corporation, taxes on the workers wages etc etc etc.
I just think it's important to recognize who is getting how much of your dollar when buying your gas.

Well, obviously if you're a bad driver you should be in the biggest brick of steel you can afford and not complain about the price of gas.

You could also look at how much of that $30 goes to government which then goes on to roads, bridges and infrastructure maintenance and improvements. Your gas taxes are a user tax for the roads that you're using. The government doesn't just sit on it - most states collect less in gas taxes than it costs to repair and build roads.
which is why i'm not gonna visit my folks back in germany any time soon.
But it sure is a great time for them to come visit here!
At my last job I had a colleague from Germany. Even though he worked in our building, he was still technically employed by a German/French company that paid him in Euros. During the 2 years or so he was there he, got about a 30% payraise just by virtue of currency movements.

Tell me about it, I should open a hotel for all the people that want to come visit me, lol. For them it's like a 3rd world country price-wise. At the Apple-Store they had an extra queue for the iphone because a million tourists from Europe wanted to buy one lol.
