Party pooper.

I filled up yesterday for $3.47. This morning the price at that gas station was $3.54. WTF? Monday the price was $3.44. Ten cents in two days? WTF?

The last time I filled up the tank -- two weeks ago -- I paid $3.19.

Exactly! Unless you live in NY city, Boston... etc. Where you cane ride the subways, or trains. Where I live we don't have that.

If mass transit were available to me I would gladly use it
Part of Jersey I'm in has no mass transit

Gas is expensive in Europe due to high taxation. The governments take this gas tax money and build high-quality mass transit. If Americans were more foresighted, we would have raised the gas tax modestly back when gas was near $1/gal (say 30-40 cents per gallon) and invested in mass transit. This would have decreased the demand for gasoline, resulting in less of a price increase today. Additionally, it would have decreased traffic congestion so that those who continued to drive would have benefited as well.

Just paid $3.79 for regular on Washingtons Great Olympic Pennisula. At this point $4.00 is just a few weeks away.
Is it just me ? I've noticed lately all the "serviceless station" owners and operators are wearing a big smile on their face.
Also it looks like the RV business is starting to show Cracks.
The high cost of fuels and the credit crunch are comming together plus the used inventories are climbing fast.

What was that "POP" sound.........Fissssssssss.

Who is 'they'? How about we as citizens, do something about it? As in practicing better urban and regional planning mechanisms, stop buying McMansions 33 miles outside of Minneapolis, Denver, Indianapolis, etc? Carpool to work. Stop relying on the government to come in and intercede where it has no business, which is to say set price controls on oil. Oil is a non-renewable fossil fuel. Therefore, it is finite. The supply is lower than the burgeoning global demand. It's up to citizenry and local governments to acquiese to common sense planning that can someday lower our consumption.
