I went to look at a new M3 last weekend, their nationwide release date is this Saturday (nobody can buy or even drive one before then). Car was sold, put away so nobody could look at it (dumb). Buyer is taking it home Saturday
Those are the only cars except for a few will still be manuals but with all the digital cluster and common controls. It's no longer a driver's oriented car when you have to deal with electronic clusters and ICE.

Too much electronic screens make for expensive future repairs.

But, for those seeking a good used car. A nice 10 year old one owner no accidents no rust low miles car of any kind is a good choice.
Except those with poor quality records.
Sorry but that had to be the dumbest comment of the day. So by your rationale I should immediately sell my aircooled 911 and replace it with an automatic 2018 Honda Civic? Just curious.

The majority of drivers buy cars for utility purposes. Yes, modern features are desirable. The 911 is a specialty car for a limited market.

Desirable to whom? Not me or tons of other enthusiasts who prefer older cars. I own 1 newer car and 2 older ones. I drive the older ones a lot more often because they're far far more fun to drive than the newer one.

Yes, I'm well aware that most of the people are oblivious to what they drive. But there are exceptions. The current car shows are filled with people both coming to look at and show off their vintage or classic cars. These are the people the OP referenced in his post. Not the people who couldn't care less like yourself.

I current drive Tesla Model S, it is super fast but it's just not as engaging to drive. Plus the newer cars coming out are even more appliance like than ever. Do we need anymore superlative SUVs? How many more hybrid/EV sports sedans that make no sound and have no mechanical feel?

EVs are fast but the achilles heal is the weight, it can't out handle mid-rear engine mounted light weight sports cars.

And none of the newer cars have a decent mechanical manual gearbox. All new sports cars over $40k have some sort of automatic paddle shifter that are clutchless.

So more and more older modern era cars will become the cars to collect.
EV's are not the future. They are regressive in capability and limit freedom of travel which is most likely the intent. Wake up people.

Was this thread limited to gearheads? I stated a simple fact that applies to BOTH men and women. The majority of MEN think of cars as utility tools that get them from point A to point B.

I think its you who needs to wake up... EV's are coming whether you like it or not. I understand and accept that my next car will be an EV in 10-15 years barring any major accident to the current vehicles I own. Nothing you say, do, comment on a forum will change the fact that EV's are the future at this time. Almost every manufacturer is pouring billions into producing them.

Just keep your ICE vehicle for as long as you can as it could end up being worth more later than it is now because ICE vehicles will become rare as EV adoption rises.

They may not make the experience better but they will keep you from having severe injuries or even dying as a result of an accident. I have an older car (Nissan ZX) that I occasionally drive. When I do drive, it's usually at low speeds or on side streets as I know if I get into an accident...almost guaranteed to have an injury as force distribution in older cars are not as good as they are today.

*sigh* Surely you can understand that the "enthusiast" community is only a small fraction of the overall car market. Not trying to silence you but you have to be reasonable and see how the original assertion doesn't hold for the majority of the car market.

EV's are being forced on us by Governments here and abroad. If they were an advancement it would be the market that drives the switch to EV's not government. Most people don't want nor need them. It you want freedom of travel AND also a home charging EV, you have to buy TWO cars.
