Camaro with the 6.2 is rated at 16/27 and 20 combined. Something must be wrong with yours if you’re only getting 8 mpg.
If ones uses fast cars how they are designed, you get terrible mileage. My powerful vehicle gets beat on and I’ve seen single digit mpg. My overall is 16 mpg.
It looks smaller than a Prius. Not saying it is and that isn't necessarily a bad thing for a commuter/around town car.
It's actually larger than a Prius, and considerably quicker. And they are pretty big inside. And yes, GM took $8500 of the price as soon as the federal credits dried up (and about when the batteries started only costing about $6600 to make).
And with the Costco discount, you get another $3k on top of that, and some dealers add an additional discount.
The MSRP is a worthless figure and doesn't reflect what people are actually paying for them out the door at any dealership nationwide. I paid $25k a year ago for my new 2020 and the 2021s are a little lower to reflect the newer, lower yet cost of batteries.
Enthusiasts need to try them. Put it in L and Sport mode and punch it (especially punch it from 20-50 though if you turn the traction control off and punch it from a stop, it's pretty fun, too). Yeah, it's no Tesla, but it's quicker than a MINI Cooper S or a GTI in those conditions. I know it's quicker than my MINI Cooper JCW because there's no waiting around for it to rev up. MY JCW, however, is a roadster, so there is no EV replacement for it, yet. The two of them, though, make for a great combo in the driveway. And the Bolt has become the road trip car when we aren't camping. As I've mentioned, my wife is in eastern CT right now, and it took her one 30 minute stop to charge up at the halfway point to get almost 400 miles away from here.
Now with $6 a gal gas coming pals i am getting rid of my 2021 Camaro that gets 8mpg. Any tips on EV's?
Maybe the Bolt? I only drive 50 miles a week and the included charger does 4 miles per hour charge. A 220 volt charger is $600 and then you gotta pay someone big money to have it installed and do the 220 amp breaker thingy.
if you have a 2021 camaro then you just bought it recently. The hit you'll take on selling the car will far exceed fuel savings from getting an EV.

You drive 50 miles a week and are worried about the price of gas??
But an EV is the ultimate stoplight Grand Prix vehicle! I’d say a model 3 performance if you don’t mind the plain generic interior.
It most certainly is if you don't mind crushing your range numbers into oblivion. I managed to eat through 70 miles of range on a model 3 LR+ in about 30 minutes and maybe 20 miles of actual distance covered. But yes, it was fun to do so in a way.

Well, his 8 mpg means he’s full throttle often and doesn’t drive much, so it’s a perfect vehicle.

Yes, but being poor is horrible especially those on beer budgets with champagne tastes. It’s your money, but don’t whine about the cost of admission to participate.

So OP is going to take a $9,000-$12,000 hit on depreciation on the brand new Camaro, and then and spend another $40,000 on a Chevy Bolt, to save $10,000 in gas at $6/gal, over the Camaro's 9-year remaining life cycle?
Make that $7,500 if gas stays below $4.00/gal.
OP drives 2,500 miles per YEAR and claims gas costs are killing him.
OP claims new Camaro gets 8 mpg. Camaro mpg per EPA is 14 city, 22 hwy. I will assume OP never goes on the highway.
Losing $12,000 to save $8,000. Is this a joke or is OP really this crazy?
If he wants an EV, that is cool. Camaro owners are rabid fans of the marque. If he bought a Camaro LT or SS, it is because he is emotionally a big fan of Camaros. Camaro people are nuts for Camaros. I never saw one who woke up one morning and said, "maybe I will trade for a Prius or a KIA".
They are discounting them heavily to get people to buy them. No idea if they’re actually making any money off of them.
"Heavily".
I just did an area wide search of Sacramento. Not a single Bolt listed for under $29,400. That is down from $36,500, but not "heavily".
On top of that, in California I would pay a 9% sales tax making that $32,050 OTD before adding a single option.
Just saying.
