I feel like the ride quality would really suffer. But I do see the advantages.

I don't see the need. I can only recall 2 times with a slow leak due to nail in a tire in the last 20 years. Due to the seasonal changes in weather, I may have to add air once every fall, that's it. Now with the TPMS you don't even have to check the tire pressure, it's available on the dash display and a warning light if it falls too low. I'll keep my air, thanks.

It's a puzzlement to me.
Air pressure is part of the car's suspension. Put 45 PSI in your tires and see if you don't agree. Maybe there is a way to build it all into the equation....

Somehow, I can see people running airless tires until they are completely slick. That oughta be fun next time it snows.

I'd have to see the performance characteristics of such a tire to make a decision. What is their grip and wear rating? What is their load rating?

Avoiding flats/blowouts really isn't critical to me as this has happened to me twice in 20+ years of driving with average of 25-30K miles per year.

For me to really be sold on it would require a clear advantage over traditional tires other than potential leaks/blowouts/flats
